In Solidarity

Chen Dance Center stands in solidarity with BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) and the Black Lives Matter movement. We recognize and mourn the disturbing injustices that have happened, and continue to happen to BIPOC. Using our platform within the Asian American and dance communities, we are reaching out to urge you to stand against systemic racism and injustice. Chen Dance Center firmly believes that hard work and artistry should define a person more than the color of their skin, gender identity, sexual orientation or socioeconomic background.

Conversations about racism are very important right now. Children and youth make up a portion of this country’s next leaders and we urge you to have these conversations with your family. In addition to educating yourself and your communities, please don’t forget to VOTE. These protests are highlighting the systemic racism BIPOC face every day. One of the greatest things we can do as allies is to help change the political landscape of the world we live in.
