Performances: See us in a Theatre!

January 21-24, 2025: Classes can take a field trip to see H.T. Chen & Dancers perform at LaMaMa Theatre in Lower East Side Manhattan. In the unique environment of the theater, children will discover new methods of expression and will leave with a renewed enthusiasm for learning that they can take back to the day-to-day classroom environment.

Performances: Available for in-school visits

December 2024-February 2025: Our dance-based show, with award-winning works by choreographer H.T. Chen, has been cited by educators as “the field trip of the year”. Eight Strokes & the Moving Word Series draws from the company’s rich cultural heritage and dynamic repertory to reveal the culture and history of Asians in America. Through dance and calligraphy, the students are shown the stories and meaning behind the words and dances in an innovative presentation through live performance, video projections, and an interactive format.

DEL’s Tracing Footsteps project

Chen Dance Center worked with Dance Education Laboratory (DEL) and NYC DOE to create a K-12 curriculum titled Tracing Footsteps: Into the Heart of Chinatown-Hidden Voices with video tutorials.

In the community:

More intensive partnerships with the local community include Early Childhood Dance Program at PS 42 where the Company provides dance training to grades K-2.
