Untold Lives addresses sexual and political issues in traditional Chinese society, exploring images of men and women revealed in ancient Chinese literature. The dance suggests male/female dominance as well as the struggles within a traditional Chinese family. Bound and suppressed by obligation, the members break free momentarily only to return to the group again and again. Through innovative use of the traditional sword and martial arts influence, compelling visual and highly physical imagery is created.
